“We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.” Maya Angelou
Transformation as a biological imperative…
The butterfly is a symbol of transformation, but a transformation not easily won or achieved. The caterpillar doesn’t have a choice. It is programmed to break free of its cocoon.
Its transition is likely difficult and painful, yet it must happen or it will die.
Transformation as a heart imperative…
We too are called to the transformative process. However for us, transformation it isn’t a biological imperative like it is for the caterpillar, it is a heart-imperative.
If we don’t transform, we stagnate.
You see, there is something in us that yearns for this transformation, because we sense that there is something more. Something we were called to do or to be. A land imagined, but never visited.
Thus we must listen within and follow the leadings of the heart, for what is worse than a life of unfulfilled promise — a life not lived to the full?
Like the butterfly, the transformative process is not easy… and the result is beautiful.
